We're going to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Buenos Aires, Argentina this December. We have a campaign that relates to climate change and stopping genetically engineered trees. We are leaving Buenos Aires around 17 December via bus to go to Temuco, Chile to meet with Mapuche indigenous activists. We need to know some sort of a bus schedule from Buenos Aires to Temuco so we can set up a the meeting as soon as possible from here. Also prices? We also would like to know if there is a place the bus stops in the Andes overnite or if that is an option.
Answer is in English followed by Spanish.
There isn’t a direct bus from Buenos Aires to Temuco. You have to go from Buenos Aires to Santiago and from there to Temuco. To go to Santiago, you can look at Tata International’s page, which leaves from Retiro (Bs.As). (that is the main train station. There is a subway stop there too.)
The cost to Santiago in the middle of Dec. is $130. (in pesos, 3\dollar) Another company is Buses Ahumado that goes to Santiago for $110--the price will increase Dec. 7 for the holidays at the end of the year to $130. They leave at 16:00 (4 P.M.) on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Sat.
The tickets to Neuquen cost $80 until Dec. 15, then it increases to $100. You have to wait an hour take a micro from Neuquen to Temuco or stay a night and travel another day. The bus leaves several times daily: 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 19:45, and 21:00. The price includes bar services, cold meal, breakfast, (the trip is very long) referring to the trip from Bs.As. to Neuquen.
Neuquen is a city and you can get a hotel easily, if you decide to say a night or stay some days before traveling to Temuco.
From Neuquen to Temuco, the cost is $60, then from Dec. 15, they still don’t know how much it will increase (Chilean costs.)
Another recommended way, is to travel to Neuquen and from there to Temuco. If you look at a map, there are at almost the same elevation on the map. It is across the border. Their page is at www.viabariloche.com.ar
On the other hand, you need to reserve a week early. And you can get the tickets for any of the options, (to get on and off the micro or stay a day in Neuquen directly at Retiro (Bs.As.)
As.)
www.tatainternacional.com.
As. a Neuquen.
As.).
the follow-up question was the feasability to go from Bariloche to Temuco.
What I can ascertain is that the bus company (www.viabariloche.com.ar) doesn’t have service from Bariloche to Temuco. In this case, you need to take a longer trip: Bs.As, Bariloche, Neuquen, Temuco. There are several services to Bariloche from several companies with daily trips but nothing from Bariloche to Temuco.
The company suggested that you should first, go from Bs.As., Neuquen, Temuco, and on the returm, return from Temuco to Bariloche (there are more services, and from there direct to Bs.As.
The problem that they raised is that if you want to return to the United States from Temuco. I couldn’t find out another company that goes from Temuco from Bs.As. except this. I think that from Bariloche to Temuco, there must be some company.. but the subject is that from Bs.As. it is more difficult to find out. At least, there was nothing that I can could find out from Bs.As.
As.
As. salvo esta...
As.
