Question: Request for Michael Brown's Senate Confirmation Hearing Transcript, Articles

I would like to find the transcript for the Senate's confirmation of Michael Brown as Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Emergency Preparedness and Response (aka head of FEMA). His FEMA bio says he was nominated in January 2003.

http://www.fema.gov/about/bios/brown.shtm.

Articles from the Washington Post relating to his confirmation would also be very helpful.

Answer: Request for Michael Brown's Senate Confirmation Hearing Transcript, Articles

According to today's Los Angeles Times [9/12/05], he was confirmed as a Deputy Director in 2002, and did not need to go through reconfirmation when he was promoted.

The 2002 hearing is at

Also you could look at the weekly "Compilation of Presidential Documents: Main Page" at http://www.gpoaccess.gov/wcomp/index.html

In the second section that says "1993 (Volume 29) through 2005 (Volume 41) Compilations", click on "Search (1993 forward)".

A search for "Michael D . Brown", 2003, will give you various documents (worth looking at them all. The first one, here, states "The President announced his intention to nominate Michael D. Brown
to be Under Secretary for Emergency Preparedness and Response at the
Department of Homeland Security."

I had a hard time finding any articles in the Washington Post or in any major paper about Michael Brown's promotion to Director of FEMA.

I did find two articles in Denver papers -- he was Colorado local at one point. See below.
