I put together a step-by-step guide for librarians interested in fact checking. It's attached here as a Word document. Let me know if you have any questions / problems / just want to get to know me better. I was a fact checker for about five years before I became a librarian, and this was the process I followed.

If anybody is really *really* interested in fact checking, check out 'The Fact Checker's Bible' by Sarah Harrison Smith, former New Yorker fact checker, now head of research at the NYT magazine. It's a good basic guide covering just about everything you might want to know about the work.
