Question: Information about Virgil Belew?

I'm looking for information on the activities and writing of my late father, Virgil L. Belew, around 1933, when he was an editor of the Daily Californian at U.C. Berkeley, and also regarding his appearance at a congressional committee hearing (McCarthy?) in the 1950s, at which he apparently took the 5th amendment while being questioned about his friend Rossi Reynolds, whose wife was supposedly a California Communist Party officer. Information about the Reynolds would be interesting, too - when I met them in the 1940s they were potters and artists living in San Francisco.

Question: What is the Legal Definition of Rape?

I was wondering if there is a source (or sources) for evaluating what is considered rape in each of the U.S. states. I want to know how it's defined by each state. If it is possible, I would also be interested in any information on the charges against those who are accused of rape. In other words, how do they differ from state to state? Recently in an online discussion forum, these questions were raised after someone brought up the "Men Can Stop Rape" posters. Many people were wondering how rape is defined legally in their respective states and how those definitions differ from state to state. Thank you very much!!

Question: Verify a Quotation Made by Norman Thomas?

I find this quote or a variant at numerous extreme right wing internet sites. Is it verifiable and legitimate? I have read some about Thomas and some of his actual words and I find this quotation questionable. Perhaps if he did make this remark, the context would be interesting. Can you help?

Can you tell me some URLs that tell about the history of "the edited book." The edited book here is from the view point of collection/selection of content based on some criterion and not from a printing/publishing point of view.

Question: Daniel Imperato, his legitimacy as a candidate, and some useful biographical information research strategies/resources

Who is Daniel Imperato? He has a gazillion self-generated web pages and news releases but they all come from him. He claims to be running for president in 2008. Can we get any proof that he is some kind of legitimate candidate or is he just making this up? And suppose you are a reference librarian, and a patron asks you who a person is, what he stands for, what he has accomplished in life, what his personal history is. What do you do?

I am researching the question of whether public libraries, when they open up their meeting rooms to outside groups, have to allow the rooms to be used for religious services. I understand there is a case in California being decided now, Faith Center Church Evangelistic Ministries v.
