ALA Midwinter: Diversity Discussion Group on White Privilege

The ALA Office for Diversity is sponsoring a discussion on white privilege among its events at ALA Midwinter in Philadelphia.

The discussion will be Saturday, January 12, 2008, 1:30-3:30pm Loews Hotel, Lescaze Room, 1200 Market Street
"Whiteness is a concept that must be defined historically. Throughout history, the belief that Whiteness does not exist nor is it privileged has persisted. We will uncover how White privilege has evolved, how it is perpetuated today and what we can do in our roles to unhinge its power. Come to this discussion group and learn how to put knowledge into action."

Please attend especially if you don't think white folks have, acknowledge, use, or enjoy race privilege.

I learned about this on Facebook, btw, from an event posted by Trevor Dawes.
