According to the Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, 69 people in Virginia were killed by an intimate partner in 2005, the most recent year for which there are statistics. 68% of these victims were female, which would mean there were 47 women killed in Virginia as a result of domestic violence in 2005.
