Addressing Information Needs of Trans Communities and Individuals

For all the trans activists in Chicago at the end of June, if you can manage to make it to the ALA conference, there's going to be a workshop on addressing the information needs of trans people (inside and outside the library). We've got awesome panelists coming from a variety of experiences. If you have any questions or suggestions, post a comment on this blog!

Title: Addressing the information needs of the Transgendered Community
Date: 6/25/2005
Time: 4:00 PM- 5:30 PM
Location: McCormick Place room: S101b
Open
Description: The information needs of the transgendered community vary and change over time. The basis of information needs by transgendered individuals and those in their circle come from the desire to understand their condition, as well as the experiences of other transgendered individuals. Many of the information needs are tied to issues of acceptance. The information needs of the primary subgroups that comprise the Transgendered community (crossdressers, Transsexuals and gender-deviant individuals) may also vary. This session will also address the sources of information important to members of the trans community.
