Radical Reference and InterActivist Skillshare

Radical Reference and InterActivist Network have agreed to collaborate on monthly Sunday afternoon skillshares. They are meant to share skills and knowledge among librarians and technology workers and will generally be targeted to participants with intermediate to advanced experience in librarianship or computer technology, depending on the topic.

They will be held in the ABC No Rio computer center or another ABC No Rio location on Sundays from 4-6pm.

Sunday, September 7, 2008: InterActivist hands on CSS training. Bring a computer if you can. If you can't, you must RSVP to nyc@radicalreference.info, and we'll hook you up if we can.

PAST SKILLSHARES
Sunday, April 27, 2008: Radical Reference Library of Congress Subject Heading changes letter/email writing party

Sunday, January 20, 2008: Radical Reference/InterActivist lab/study hall. Come on by and work, ask questions, share experience and knowledge, or just get stuff done because you're in a room full of other people doing the same.

Sunday, December 16, 2007: Web Site Workday: Radical Reference and other InterActivist hosted sites and friends: Got an idea about something you want to do with your web site, but not sure where to start? Want to learn more about how your web site works? Feel like you're missing something on your site, but not sure what it is? Come work with the InterActivist and Radical Reference crews. If you have a laptop, you should bring it, and if you plan to do direct work on your web site (you should! you can learn more that way than just talking about it) you should know whatever authentication credentials (usernames, passwords, etc) you need for your site. Or just plan on chipping away at the Radical Reference website to do list!

Sunday, November 18, 2007: Getting Cozy with the Command Line
Come to ABC No Rio computer lab this Sunday November 18, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm to learn and share tips on building intimacy with our old and trusted friend the command line. Whether you are working remotely on a server or on your own Linux desktop, a solid working knowledge of the command line can mean the difference between endless frustration and zen-like one-ness with your operating system. All are welcome regardless of skill level. For those of you who already have a few tips - please come ready to share. If you have your own laptop, feel free to bring it. If not, computers are available to use. The workshop will be informal, structured as a go-around providing everyone who has a tip to share with the opportunity to explain it. The bash shell, the default for linux and modern Mac OS X distributions, will be the focus of the workshop.

Sunday, October 14, 2007: Tenant Resources for Librarians, led by Melissa Gasparotto
