User Guidelines

  • We designed this site to answer questions from activists and independent journalists on topics related to those activities. This is not a general reference site. For that, we recommend your local public library or Ask MetaFilter.
  • We cannot guarantee immediate responses to questions.
  • There is no need to create an account to ask a question or browse the site.
  • The more information you can supply in your question, the easier it makes it for us to reply. Please try to be as specific as possible.
  • If we need more information from you in order to better understand your question, we’ll e-mail you back. Don’t be offended!
  • We’ll e-mail you the answer and also post it on the blog at http://www.radicalreference.info
  • If your question is sensitive, or if for any reason you do not want to see it posted, please let us know.
  • If we think the question and answer are particularly valuable, we will rewrite them into neutral terms and, with your permission, post them to the blog in a form that protects your identity and the action about which you wrote. Two of the most important facets of librarianship are privacy and providing access to information. Whenever possible, we try to do both simultaneously.
  • Please write to us at info@radicalreference.info to let us know whether or not the service has been useful and how it can be improved. We will not be offended by any constructive criticism, and we definitely won’t be offended by kudos or money.
  • If your comments are specifically about the site, you can send your message to web at radicalreference dot info.
