I've been in contact with Jenna and Miguel. Jenna is at the Poor People's March. They are heading West on 23rd Street. Miguel is heading to St. Mark's Church. I'm currently monitoring noise studio so I'm hearing if there's any danger or the police are doing anything. |

spoke to Jenna who is in the field at the Poor Peoples' March at the UN. As of 5:00 PM the rally was still going in preparation for the march. Police presence was quite apparent and they seemed ready to do their level best with several paddy wagons ready for the protesters. Jenna said that many of these porotesters were deaf and she wondeered how the authorities might deal with that issue. Just got another call from Jenna as I write this. She said things have heated up a bit. She and some fellow protesters were pushed onto the side walk away from the rally itself and that clearly the cops were waiting for the rally to hits the streets so they could start filling up their wagons. She asked me to check in with her around 6 to see what was up. Clearly she has no intention of being arrested but neither did our fellow radical librarian Matthew B. It's all up for grabs people.

I went to the Chaos on Broadway demonstration with Derek. We met at the corner of 6th Avenue and 48th street, where there were several police and vehicles. We met Josh, a Columbia journalist student writing about us, outside New Amsterdam Theatre--currently playing The Lion King. On our way, we also saw several policepersons. Derek and I were quite apprehensive, since the promoters of the event openly invited people to break the law, and we both decided to dress low-key. |

According to No RNC Sound Coalition, who is receiving phone calls from the street, there are mass arrests in the theater district near 46th and Broadway. Approximatly 100-150 people (including Legal observers) have been surrounded by NYCPD and the police are using orange neting to entrap the group of people. If you know anyone who has been arrested please call National Lawyers Guild at 212 -679-6018. Listen in for more details.
