Shinjoung Yeo was profiled in the Winter 2008 issue (no. 38) of Bitch, as part of the "Bitch in: Cool Activists, Good Causes" column. It's on page. 33 and was written by Marjorie Asturias-Lochlear.
About half the article is about Radical Reference, but it also discusses feminism and race. Her fave five activist entities are listed as
- ALA/COSWL (the Committee on the Status of Women in Librarianship), which she chairs
- FreeGovInfo, which she Jim Jacobs, and James Jacobs founded
- bell hooks
- Janice Jordan, an activist friend of hers from San Diego
- Radical Reference, which she helped found
It's wonderful to see the modest Ms. Yeo recognized for her unparalleled greatness!
If anyone wants a copy of the article, I can send it to you, but really, you should support your small, feminist press and buy a copy!
Hooray for Shinjoung
I was thrilled when the recent copy of Bitch showed up in my mailbox (as I always am), but then doubly so when I saw the article about ShinJoung Yeo. It is always nice when someone you know and respect gets well deserved kudos.
