I'm enrolled in a health class and I've asked my teacher questions about transitioning males and the affects of testosterone on their body, especially considering that estrogen seems to have a protective effect on female bodies. I haven't gotten a straight answer. Particularly, I'm wondering if testosterone makes someone who is transitioning more susceptible to osteoporous and heart disease. It would be great to get this information from a source that has trans people's interests at heart. |

Do subject headings still matter? We say they do. Does the Library of Congress always identify accessible and appropriately named headings and implement them in a timely manner? We say not always. All you have to do is spend one day behind a reference desk to see examples of biased, non-inclusive, and counterintuitive classifications that slow down, misdirect, or even obscure information from library users. Several months ago, a friend attended a training around domestic violence and sexual assault. She recently told me that one of the presenters had said that the rates of women killing their abusive spouses/partners dropped dramatically with the establishment of battered women's shelters in the United States. She said that the presenter did not state where he got this information. Where would i find studies/reports confirming (or disproving) this statement?

I am a college student, and recently my entire campus community received an email from an army recruiter. I know that colleges are required to allow recruiters on campus at the risk of losing federal funding, but i can't find anything regarding the legality giving away student information, in this case email addresses, to recruiters. Any information at all would be helpful. It's a SUNY--a state school, if that matters.
