The New York City Housing and Neighborhood Information System (NYCHANIS) is an extensive, searchable resource for housing statistics in NYC. They get their information from a number of "official" sources, including the NYC Housing and Vacancy Survey, which is where the following data came from.

Question: Anarchist Economics

I was wondering if you knew any good books about anarchist economics that would help me in converstations about technological progress in an anarchist society. I don't have any problems with the very basic arguement that technological progress will depend on the priority the people decide for it in the given society or community, but other people think that's a little too vague of an answer. this seems to be the only thing keeping one of my friends from calling himself an anarchist.

Question: Rent & Income disparity Infobox

The Indypendent is doing a two-page affordable housing spread for its upcoming Jan. 27 issue. We would like to create an infobox that highlights how NY's spirlaing rent increases disproportionately affect poor and middle-income people. Was thinking we should try to compare the average income and rent and rent as % of monthly income in several different neighborhoods.

Incoming Congressmen

I'm a radical reference volunteer. Try the following sites out to answer your question about incoming Congressional Democracts. I was unable to find a list by affiliation, but the sites below list the information you need, just not in the format you were looking for. Please read on and let me know if I can be of further assistence.

  • The Congressional Staff Directory lists all of the congressional races including the winners. They break it down by state, but not by party affiliation.
  • Thomas from the Library of Congress -- usually a good free site for bills and all things legislative -- only lists the current congress (108th) not the incoming members.
  • Wikipedia listed incoming Senators, but not members of the house. Check out their
Senate site and their House of Representatives site.
  • In the interest of getting you an answer quickly, I didn't look much into the news sites. This may be a good avenue to search further if you don't get what you need from the sites above. For example, check out the CSPAN site. You can also search for "2004 election results" in Google news.
